Since April 2026, Nijmegen has had another sustainable mobility solution. In collaboration with Nijmegen City Council, Deelfiets Nederland has installed 30 electric cargo bike-shares, spread across 29 locations in the municipality. Two cargo bike-shares are available at Nijmegen station, whilst the other locations each have one.
The electric shared cargo bikes offer a flexible alternative to owning your own cargo bike and are a handy addition to public transport. Thanks to the electric assistance, you can effortlessly transport shopping, luggage or other items, without the costs and maintenance of owning your own cargo bike.
How to rent a shared cargo bike
Renting an electric shared cargo bike is simple. Download the Deelfiets Nederland app and see straight away where the cargo bikes are available. Use the app to unlock the cargo bike and start your journey. After use, return the cargo bike to the same location where you collected it.
Rates
Users can hire electric shared cargo bikes in Nijmegen from €4.80 per hour (billed in 15-minute increments, i.e. €1.20 per 15 minutes), with a starting fee of €1.50. Users pay a maximum of €48 per calendar day.
A valuable addition for Nijmegen
With the introduction of electric cargo bike-sharing, Deelfiets Nederland and the City of Nijmegen are taking an important step together toward more sustainable mobility. Based on usage and experiences with this project, they will work with the City of Nijmegen to determine whether the number of cargo bike-sharing units can be further expanded in the future.
